O2 improves O2 Smart Box, launches new Smart Wi-Fi

This May, both new and existing O2 Smart Box customers started receiving the free Smart Wi-Fi feature. Smart Wi-Fi enables continuous scanning to find the best and most stable Wi-Fi band and channel available. Customers no longer need to manually switch between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, since the O2 Smart Box does it automatically on each connected device. Thanks to this feature, users can enjoy the best quality Wi-Fi possible according to the current situation in their households and surroundings.

"The user sees up to dozens of Wi-Fi signals on their home devices from their neighbors that work on many different broadcast channels. But if they are running on the same channel, their own WiFi can slow down. The Smart Wi-Fi function can determine the most suitable broadcast channel and automatically switch between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, whether for mobile, a tablet or a notebook," says Roman Bacík, O2 product manager.

Another advantage is that if the user turns on Smart Wi-Fi in the mobile application, the two bands are aligned under one broadcast name (SSID). So just connect to one Wi-Fi, using one password - and that's it. "Users are guaranteed that both the Wi-Fi streams and their channels will switch and adapt to the needs of a particular device according to the surrounding environment. In addition, every existing and new owner of the O2 Smart Box will get this new feature free of charge through an update," adds Roman Bacík.

O2 updates the Smart Box application

Based feedback and communication with customers, O2 has also prepared a new update for the O2 Smart Box mobile application which makes it even easier for users to do the initial setup and set their controls. Through the app, new customers can use, for example, a robot tab, where they can easily set up a pool filtration system, automatically water their garden or adjust home temperature setting. Overall, this mobile app is even more intuitive and easier to use than previous versions.

International cooperation
